You may have an awareness of the kind of serious injuries that can happen on the road or at work. Once you know the risks, you can prepare for the worst. But what happens when the unexpected happens?

A Pizza Hut manager is now in recovery after a brush with the unexpected.

The robbery

According to the San Antonio Current, authorities responded to reports of a gunshot victim at the Pizza Hut on the 14600 block of Nacogdoches Road. The manager had been locking up at the end of her shift when the suspect forced her back into the restaurant. She sustained injuries after he physically assaulted her, shot her in the abdomen and robbed her of her cell phone and purse. No mention of whether he robbed the register as well.

The suspect fled after the incident on foot with no arrests made yet. If caught, he may face a charge of aggravated robbery with serious bodily injury. Emergency services took the manager to Brooke Army Medical Center where she was recovering in stable condition.

The fallout

You cannot prepare for these kinds of encounters and while this blog is not health or legal advice, make sure you stay as safe as possible in these high-risk circumstances. In this situation, this manager has been seriously injured and deserves compensation, but from whom? A suit against the suspect? Or a claim since it happened on her employer’s premises? Those details still needs untangling. We wish her a speedy recovery and that she gets the help she needs. If you find yourself in a similar situation, it may be wise to consider legal consultation to clear up the muddy details.
